Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. For example, A larger number of plant species means a greater variety of crops. Greater species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms.
Nitric acid, Sulfuric acid
With NO2 in gaseous phase:
NO2 + OH• → HNO3
The second acid present is Nitric acid which may also be formed due to lightening strikes.
With SO2 in gaseous phase:
SO2 + OH• → HOSO2•
HOSO2• + O2 → HO2• + SO3
SO3 + H2O → H2SO4
Thus the primary acid is Sulphuric acid.
sulfuric and nitric acids
Acid rain results when sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) are emitted into the atmosphere and transported by wind and air currents. The SO2 and NOX react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These then mix with water and other materials before falling to the ground.
