What can you infer as to the function of the diaphragm


The diaphragm of a microscope controls the amount of light that reaches the specimen
The diaphragm is for inhaling and exhaling of an organism, especially us, humans. 
The diaphragm helps during the breathing process, it curves down to allow more air into the lungs and curves up to squeeze the gaseous content of lungs to expel waste gaseous materials
Skeletal muscle of respiration.
It serves as an important anatomical landmark that separates the thorax, or chest, from the abdomen. It is the primary muscle used in the process of inspiration, or inhalation.
It plays a major role in the contraction of the lungs.
