Of three numbers, two are 1 2/3 and 12/7 . what should the third numbers be so that the average of all three is 2?

Answers

    Let   x  =   third number

    thus     (1 2/3 +12/7 + x )/3   = 2

              ( 5/3 + 12/7 + x)   =     6

                (35 + 36) + 21x)/21    =   6     /  lcm of  3 & 7   = 21

                71 + 21x  =    126

                          x   =  ( 126-71/21

                                =   55/21

 The third number is   55/21

-29/21
